Our New Set-Up
About a week into being here our computer screen broke! How you ask? Good question.
Little miss Remy was on the couch at the same time as the computer and the computer accidentally ended up on the floor. It was barely a one foot drop but it was some how just enough to bust the screen.
It was upsetting since this is our main source of communication. Adam needed to cool off and went for a walk. Remy totally thought she was going to get a punishment over this. Adam and I understood it was an accident and had no plans to punish her, but she didn't know that.
After Adam got back Remy came up to us and said, "I have a good idea, lets commune." Adam and I just looked at looked at each other. What was she talking about? She said to us, "you know, with the cracker and juice. We need to remember that Jesus took our punishment for us." Then she proceeded to make all of us take a bite of her cracker and sip of her milk. Way to pull the communion card, clever little girl.
The following week our friend Chad, who was already overseas for business, came for a visit. He's a computer guy and basically confirmed that the screen needed to be replaced.
During the same time Sam and Sara, students from the school, were on their way to Basel to visit Sara's family. They offered to look for a monitor for us at the secondhand shop there. We said thanks but no thanks and that we'd talk to Reto on Monday to see if he had one. We told them that we just didn't want to spend the extra money and left it at that.
Sunday night as we were all snuggled in bed we got a knock on our door. Adam got up, lights were still off and I heard whispering going back and forth. It sounded like Adam was talking to one of the Beatles, I figured it must be Sam since he's English.
Then Adam came back into the room with a computer monitor!
This is the story Sam told Adam:
He and Sara wanted to look for us anyway but never a got chance to because he had been feeling sick. Then they were at some random event and a guy walk up to Sara and said he was throwing out this monitor and asked her if she could use it.
I talked to Sara and the random event was some sort of Christian festival in Basel. It was over and she was helping clean up when the man said he was getting rid of it.
Craziness I know, but seriously, how good is God?!?! He knew our need and just provided it for us!

Walking on Water
A few weeks ago Remy was at her Grammy J's house.
Remy was helping her change the sheets on her waterbed when she ran across it and squealed,
"Look at me! I'm walking on water like Jesus!"
Super cute!
Tonight we were reading a little kids Bible story book and the story about Jesus walking on water came up. Remy and I reminisced about the time she "walked on water." Then she said in a sad soft voice,
". . . but I'm not very good at walking on my tub water."
It made me smile to realize that she had even tried.

Moving at the speed of light
Recently Remy has taken to calling us mom and dad instead of her usual mommy and daddy.
I'm not ready for this. She's only three!
I thought for sure she'd be at least twelve before that happened.
AND
Tonight, Micah who is barely one, swiped the remote while Jeopardy was on,
switched it to a basketball game and plopped on the couch to watch it!

Poor Remy, just trying to make sense of it all
The other day I was at the table feeding Micah his lunch. Remy was playing and not eating, as usual. At some point she had started to do laps around the table. She likes to pretend that she's a race horse. So there she was doing her thing, I was about to put a spoonful of baby food in Micah's mouth when I heard,
WACK . . . "OUCH!"
Then silence.
Remy had fallen and cracked her head on the leg of the table.
Five seconds later she let loose a massive scream and came running to me. She sat there on my lap crying her eyes out telling me, "I need to go to bed, I just need to go to bed mama." I need to go to bed is her default when she gets hurt. Snuggling in the blankets helps her feel better. After two or three minutes of holding her she calmed down and said to me in all seriousness, "you know, they make things hard. They make these tables out of wood. Then you hit your head on them and it makes you cry and have to go to bed."
I know Remy, how dare they make things hard! Poor girl.
I looked at her laying there in my arms, face full of tears and I lost it. I started laughing. I couldn't help myself but then she started to laugh too. I wasn't laughing at her getting hurt, I was laughing because of my shock over my little two year old's ability to reason, particularly at a time like that.
The rest of the day I watched her to see if she was exhibiting any symptoms related to a head injury. She turned out to be fine. I'm just continually amazed by how smart she is and her ability to come up with the things that she says at such a young age.

Cute kid stuff from last week.
-Remy asked my mom for a tall drink. (Should I be worried about this?!)
-Our friend AJ came over and Remy said, "AJ! Listen to this: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. I'm counting in Spanish!!!"
-The next day Grammy J came over and Remy wanted to play hide and seek. Grammy J told Remy to hide and Remy got very upset. She started crying, "But Grammy J, I want to seek." What kid does that? *Sigh*
-Micah and Remy took their first bath together. So cute, a moment Adam and I will always remember. Remy did not clobber him in the tub, which we were very happy about and Micah loved his life splashing around.

Scrape me off the floor 'cause I just melted!
Remy came up to me and asked, "Can I have you in my arms?"
-this is the part where I turn in to a big gooey mess
Yes Remy, I would love for you to have me in your arms!

You just can't make this stuff up!
Tonight after dinner Remy decided to stick her hand in the vegetable bowl and exclaimed, "ew, the pea water is warm!" Me and Adam couldn't help cracking up! I love that girl.
Oh, Remy!
I heard a ruckus coming from the next room so I went to investigate. Remy had pushed one of the kitchen chairs up to the sink and was banging some of the cups around. I gave her a stern, "What are you doing?" She turns to me and lets loose roaring laughter and says, "I'm making myself laugh!"
To make oneself laugh, what a gift! May you do something so silly today that you wet yourself a little from laughter!

-Remy, I want to go shopping at Barneys too!
(Dreaming of the fabulous-ness on Madison Ave.)

What do you want to do today?
Adam and Remy's conversation this morning:
-Daddy I want to go to the Promise Land!
-Really!? Where's the promise land?
-The beach!!!
Seriously, what are we gonna do with this girl? God must have a sense of humor giving us a beach bum for a daughter!

We all have to have goals in life.
A few weeks ago I felt a big slap from a little hand come across my backside. I turned around to see Remy's sweet face. "Hey mama! YOU have a BIG hiney! I have little hiney. Mama, I want to have a BIG hiney like you!" Thanks Remy, I love you too.
I can see the logic in that!
-Daddy?
-Yes, Remy.
-Can I have some ice cream?
(long pause)
I need it for my brain!
